Singapore Visual Arts on ABC’s Artworks
There’s something of an undeclared contest between Asia’s two city-states, Hong Kong, and Singapore, to be Asia’s premier ‘global city’. And a key way that both Hong Kong and Singapore are seeking to achieve this is through art and culture.
As was reported on Artworks earlier this year, Singapore has already invested around $1 billion building state-of-the-art theatres, museums and other cultural institutions.
And Hong Kong is spending $3 billion on a new arts precinct, the West Kowloon Cultural District. It’s just appointed a new CEO, Michael Lynch. He’s currently a board member of the ABC, and a former CEO of the Sydney Opera House and London’s South Bank.
